Hong Kong rental income & IRD receipts
Hong Kong Landlord Software — IRD Receipts & Rent Ledgers

Tenants need IRD-compliant rent receipts

Profits Tax prep means reconstructing the year
Property-level income and expense logs all year. Year-end PDF and CSV exports on Pro+ for your tax advisor.
Stamped tenancy + payment records must align
Receipts show landlord, property, tenant, amount, due date, and paid date — the paper trail IRD expects alongside your stamped lease.
Enterprise PM tools are overkill for 1–20 units
RentLedger from $24 USD/mo — rent ledger, receipts, and compliance calendar without agency-scale bloat.

Common questions
Do receipts support IRD Domestic Rent Tax Deduction?
Yes — HKD receipts include tenant footnotes for Domestic Rent Tax Deduction claims (up to HK$100,000/year; HK$120,000 for 2024/25 with qualifying children). Tenants should retain receipts for 6 years alongside their stamped tenancy agreement.
Does RentLedger file Profits Tax for me?
No — RentLedger organizes rental income and expense records. Your tax advisor files with IRD; we provide property-level summaries and receipts.
Is FPS payment integration available?
FPS QR codes on tenant pay links are live — add your FPS ID in Settings and tenants scan to pay with amount and reference pre-filled. Automatic bank-feed reconciliation is on the roadmap; today you mark rent paid when FPS arrives and issue an IRD-footnoted receipt.
Who is RentLedger for in Hong Kong?
Self-managing landlords, small property investors, and boutique PM firms with 1–20 units who want IRD-ready receipts without enterprise software.
Common objections
“We already use Xero”
Keep Xero for general accounting — RentLedger is the rental layer: HKD receipts with dual IRD footnotes, rent schedules, late-rent visibility, and property-level income logs. Export CSV to your accountant or Xero at year-end instead of reconstructing rent from bank memos.
“We track rent on WhatsApp and bank transfers”
Bank apps and WhatsApp are not rent receipts. Tenants claiming Domestic Rent Tax Deduction need formal PDF proof — and you need dated income records for Profits Tax. Mark paid in RentLedger → bilingual receipt in one click.
“We need FPS auto-reconciliation”
FPS QR on pay links is live today — tenants scan, pay, and you mark received. Automatic bank-feed matching is on the roadmap (HSBC, Hang Seng autopay). Until then, the QR removes manual amount entry and every payment still links to a bilingual IRD receipt.
“We need a Chinese UI”
Traditional Chinese UI is on the roadmap. HK receipts already include 繁體中文 IRD footnotes on every PDF; the app UI is English (ideal for expats and corporate landlords). Bilingual receipts ship today.
“Excel is free — why pay for software?”
Excel does not generate dual IRD footnotes, schedule rent through lease end, or export property-level Profits Tax summaries. One hour saved per month on tenant receipt requests pays for Starter ($24 USD/mo) — less than a single hour of bookkeeper time.
